Random Unhappy PSM Review 4 (Have to prove platinumservermanagement was negligent in their management?)

In this review, the customer expresses their concerns. PSM replies pretty much stating they were not at fault and that the customer would need to prove it.

Platinumservermanagement - first day problems!
I do not want to be negative about Platinumservermanagement however....
I read some great things about them and of course some bad things...

Today I signed up to try them out, as I just had some major phpexec problems 4 days ago. So I thought a server hardening, and some other things would be great.

After they activated my account, I then made a ticket to harden the server.

Within a two hours or so, they were logged in and updating my server which was a good start.

At which point I assumed everything was under control and they would take care of things. So then I left and went out to a meeting.

When I came home 7 hours later, mySQL was down and I can a whole bunch of clients emailing me. mySQL was down for over 6 hours, which practically killed most clients websites...

Of course I put in a ticket and they had it fixed within 15mins.

However truth of the matter, most of the server sites were down for 6 hours because SQL was down. When they say they will harden your server, they run a script that does all the regular things, then it automatically reboots the server at which point they ASSUME everything is done. However apparently they do not login after to confirm the server and double check everything, which seems like they are only doing half the point.

Point of the post, I do not know if this is common or just special service for me. But I lost some clients because the SQL was down for 6 hours and I would have thought they would do their job.

Can PSM really do the job they offer, or just putting out their sales message.... I don't want to hear about how great everyone thinks PSM is, I would like to hear from people who have problems with PSM wether small or large. As it is only when you have problems, can you see the real character of a business/person. I would love to know the worst they can be, to know if its worth the risk or if they really are good.

Another customer with a bit more posts and age behind their forum account chimes in with their bad platinumservermanagement experience.

Same here, we had a hard drive failure, the sad part is that we reported the server sending us emails for over two months with the warning of a hard drive failure and they did nothing until the hard drive actually failed.

I took them 4 days to fix the problem. After it was fixed another of our servers started sending also the hard drive failure notices, we reported quick to make sure they would take care of it, 4 days passed by nothing was done, so I openned a ticket probably not so polite anymore asking them to not wait until the server was broken to fix it like it happen with my other server.

Ethan's response was that I had no way to proof that there was negligence on their side, and that they didn't want me anymore with them.

I was glad to move away. For anyone that would like a copy of all tickets let me know, I have them all, is very interesting to read.

Same guy replying to some of the posts that follow. Just random thought - Rack911.com i've heard from friends is a good operation. Check them out.

Just think about having a server with 200 websites down for 4 days, I bet you would lose a lot of your patients.

Before judging why not request the tickets? as I said I saved them all, after reading then come into conclussions.

Random Unhappy PSM Review 3 - PlatinumServerManagement Ripoff Report

PlatinumServerManagement RipOff Report This one looks like it turned into a censorship lawsuit. But then again, this review might be a little fishy who knows - PSM countered saying this guy was a bit sketchy, which is quite possible considering the v7n site took down his complaint. Or it could be just based on them being presented with some legal crap they preferred to not be bothered with.

Anyone considering using this company I would suggest you do your research and find a REAL server management co.

DO NOT SELECT PSM

These people especially Ethan Wolitzer are disgusting people that don't give a rats a$$ about anyone.

He offers a money back guarantee but good luck with getting your money back as Ethan will come up with some kind of reason for not refunding you.

I have NEVER talked with another business person as disgusting as Ethan. This person should not be in business or at least he should have CS people handling customer service because he has no clue how to.

How people like this stay in business is beyond me. But then again I guess if the product you sell is "cheap" you will always pick up new customers.

Remember you get what you pay for. This is so true for PSM

I know several people that have had the same kind of issues with this Ethan is a disgusting, vile person... Jacka$$

I signed up to test his service and average response time to a support ticket was 8 - 12 hours and average resolution time was 24 hours and very seldom did the tech ever get it right.

What I found with PSM service is that you might as well manage your own server because they will NOT do ANYTHING unles you ask. If I don't know how to manage a server how would I need to know what to ask to have done????


This is their game. If there is an issue and you question it, they will say "YOU NEVER ASKED" them to do anything.... see ---- this is how they can charge so little


The time I was testing them I had numerous high server loads and sent a ticket in to have it investigated. I would watch the load in ssh and as soon as the load level was "normal" they would reply with "server load is perfectly normal"
YEAH because they waited for it to level off!

They NEVER did fix the high load issue in the server
Never offered any kind of solution
NOTHING

Same with many other issues. If you tell them their is an issue they will ask for details such as logs. Shouldnt a management co look at the logs? Isnt this why we hire them?

OH and they have a feedback department too
BUT good luck getting anything done with that
I concluded the feedback department was something Ethan uses to abuse his customers
Send a feedback to him and his response will be he checked into it the his tech's did NOTHING wrong
and if you don't like it you can leave

No matter what you question they are always right and you are always wrong

What a way to handle customer service huh?

oh and when you see reviews on this co it is because his buddies give them. If you look for reviews on this co make sure you look at the negative ones and you will see there is a pattern to Ethan's nastiness

I could tell you so much more about this loser company but you get the picture

I would suggest anyone looking for server management look elsewhere. there are many more smc's that will do an excellent job at not much more $$$

Random Unhappy PSM Review 2

Another unhappy platinumservermanagement review - slow response times and canned replies.

PlatinumServerManagement Experience - I need new server Admin
I have been using platinumservermanagement for over 6 months now and recently all their responds are taking forever, and most of the time when I get a respond back it's either a stupid comment like:

"Please create another ticket for it"
"We are working on it"
"We do not have the required information"

It took them about 24 hours before they changed the dns on my site, because we had to go though a bunch of pointless convos.

Well I have about 5 servers with them paying them about $105 every month and they aren't even doing their jobs properly. Seems like the have a staff cut or something.

Anyways I am looking for recommendations if anyone you know is good at server management, ddos prevention, inquires in to hacking attempts and attacks.

Dear all,

There was a security problem on one of my servers... platinum server man. then installed phpsuexec and has done some hardening.. but while doing that they have closed ssh port and no one can connect to ssh to the damage done by phpsuexec (some of client sites not working and need to be repaired)...

And because of that we have posted 9 tickets in 1 day... and platinum is not wiling to solve that ticket because SLA tells that they can solve only 2 tickets in 24h ...

here is transcript of their response...

Our SLA resolution period is 24 hours per ticket in sequential order. If you open 9 tickets in 1 day, that does not mean that we guarantee all 9 tickets will be completed within 1 day. This is clearly stated in our terms of service. To avoid any confusion or accusations of us breaking our SLA, I have annotated your account to only accept 2 tickets at a time.

No, that means 2 tickets opened concurrently. So if you open 2 tickets, you will have to wait until they are done until you can open more tickets. This is to avoid any accusations of us not completing tickets within the guaranteed period. We guarantee each ticket will be done within 24 hours. As I said before, obviously this does not mean that you can submit 9 tickets and expect them to all be done

... we have over 200 users on that server and now we have to wait until datacenter restores ssh port (firewall) ... and platinum screwed up... what kind of server managment is managment which screws up the server???

My PlatinumServerManagement Experience

Signed up for PSM server management services in 2009 after doing a bit of research and finding a bunch of happy threads.  I was happy to find a server management service that was so damn cheap and with so many happy customers.

Just Because PlatinumServerManagement.com is Cheap Does NOT Mean They Are Good!

You know the saying you get what you pay for? I should have kept this in mind. Why would I give these guys complete access to my servers that are vital to my business when they only charge $20 a month.  Something just seems too good to be true??!!

PlatinumServerManagement is an okay solution for anyone with a simple cpanel setup with not too many custom applications running with very specific environment settings.  PSM broke my server!  They did fix it not to shortly thereafter but they were absolute dicks about it. (Excuse my language.) I was pissed because it was their screwup and just like any customer I was expressing my anger and irritation.  Platinumservermanagement guys must believe they run some sort of dictatorship or something.  They don't want to hear anything they dont like and are not keen to any type of feedback.

PlatinumServerManagement team are not too nice, friendly, or easy to approach.

Let me dare voice my opinions on a public forum and instead of helping me with my issue they go full steam public relation mode and cancel my account and refuse to fix issues that they caused in the first place because they no longer want me as a client (after they pissed me off - go figure!)

Sorry if this sounds like a rant.

I made this blog because I finally had the free time to get around to it and needed some place to rant!!!  I have to be careful with my choice of works before platinumservermanagement tries to sue me.

I have used LogicSupport.com and Seeksadmin.com server management and both are very good.
